As a (quiet) celebration of our 5th year of operations, we have rolled out
changes to the existing packages available via shared hosting. The new
specifications can be seen on the plan comparison page at
http://www.hostmatters.com/plans.html. The reseller plan comparison page
will be updated tonight with the new values. In addition, the reseller
package itself has more goodies as well. Those changes will also be
reflected on the site tonight. The best part: no pricing changes have been
made. This is simply our gift to our clients.
All servers have the new package specifications in place, and all accounts
have been converted. We have also adjusted billing for any account where
additional space had been previously added. If you notice anything we
missed, please feel free to open a ticket via the helpdesk for billing to
address. In addition, the individual pricing for additional disk space has
been changed to a block of 100 meg and the pricing for additional transfer
has been dropped to $1.50/gig.
We are currently testing a new security module on Io and Minerva. Our goal,
as with all security-related items, is to allow as much latitude as possible
without being too lax. We've made modifications to the rules within the
module, and will be rolling this out server by server with the final ruleset
that appears to best fit the needs of the individual servers. If you
encounter any issues related to this module, please open a ticket with the
error(s) so we can investigate the logs and determine what adjustments need
to be made. The purpose of this rollout is to give us an added layer of
protection against abuse of unsecured php-based (and other) scripts. We also
hope to incorporate rulesets that will assist with spammers that target
Movable Type installations, which is currently the number one problem that
creates individual server issues for us.
As always, we encourage everyone to keep pace with what's going on in our
world. For your convenience, you can subscribe to the general announcements
area in the forums at http://forums.hostmatters.com, to the
reseller-specific announcement area, and/or to the individual server
announcement areas. We welcome everyone's participation in the forums, as
well - you never know what might pop up in conversation. In addition, the
offnetwork status page at http://www.hmstatus.com has an RSS feed available
for those who prefer to pull news that way.
Thanks for your continued support and patronage. We look forward to many
more years of providing service to all of you.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to
send them in via the helpdesk.
Regards,
Annette
